In the true spirit of supporting T-Mobile’s Un-carrier efforts along with minimizing time to market and solving Industry pain points around data growth, T-Mobile is deploying Openstack based virtual EPC so that we can continue to support large scale, consumer facing data connectivity to devices and better prepare for upcoming 5G deployments.

T-Mobile is looking for exponential footprint growth in EPC network to serve the growing demands. Openstack is a key component to address this demand and being used for other NFV programs. Having Openstack as a baseline for telco core systems helps in automation and shortens time-to-market for launching services. T-Mobile NFV team has provided tremendous number of improvements to NFV implementation of EPC on Openstack that helped to improve stability, increase capacity and improve availability. In this session, we are going to share the T-Mobile use-case for virtual EPC using Openstack as platform and challenges around that.
